circa 1868-75, with twist iron slightly swamped octagonal 33in. barrel stamped on the underside 'W.D.' and 'ROSE S' together with Birmingham proofs, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, later standing notch rear-sight, squared patent breech with sparse scroll engraving, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved bar-action lock, scroll engraved hammer, walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, raised tear-drop cheek-piece, shield-shaped escutcheon to underside of butt, iron heel-plate and trigger-guard, white-metal oval barrel-key escutcheons and fore-end tip, turned ramrod throat and two iron thimbles, provision for sling, complete with brass mounted wood ramrod
