circa 1860, with round, tapering twist-iron 36in. barrel, bead fore-sight, short tapering carved sighting-rib at breech signed in script 'GASQUOINE & DYSON, MARKET PLACE, MANCHESTER No. 1450' (rubbed), border engraved squared patent breech with an engraving of a pheasant to the top-flat, borderline and scroll chisel-engraved top-tang with cross-hatched background, chisel acanthus scroll engraved bar action lock signed 'GASQUOINE & DYSON' in a banner and inhabited with a hunting dog and flushed game-bird, chisel-engraved dolphin-headed hammer, chequered walnut half-stock, iron butt-plate (face pitted) with chisel-engraved top-spur, en-suite trigger-guard bow inhabited by a hunting dog, chequered pistol-grip iron tang, splinter fore-end and no provision for ramrod
