circa 1795 with later conversion by drum and nipple to percussion, flared 16in. barrel signed 'LONDON' and with moulded bands at breech, borderline and scroll engraved top-tang, slightly curved bevel-edged step-tailed lockplate signed 'BECKWITH', engraved hammer, remnants of the original pan remaining, walnut full-stock with broad dot-punched chequering at wrist, brass butt-plate inscribed 'MR CHAS. BUTLER, WOODLANDS, TOOTING COMMON', engraved brass trigger-guard and pineapple finial, brass ramrod pipes and original mahogany ramrod
