A CASED 16-BORE PERCUSSION DOUBLE-BARRELLED SPORTING-GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1860, with re-browned 29in. twist iron barrels, the top-rib unsigned, scroll engraving to the rib-end and the extra-long top-tang the latter inhabited by game-birds, moulded breech-blocks with platinum plugs, border and gamescene engraved back-action locks signed 'D & T EVANS, CARMARTHEN' (one badly rubbed), walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, engraved iron furniture including unusual full-length finial extending to the ramrod throat, plain ramrod thimbles and a period ebony white-metal mounted ramrod probably from another arm TOGETHER WITH a period mahogany storage case, circular flush-fitting ring-handle to the rounded cornered lid, the case lined and compartmented in green velvet and complete with a number of accessories including a powder flask, shot flask, nipple-key and sundry cleaning items
