French or Belgian circa 1890, with square-section 28 1/2in. blade stamped near the hilt 'VjH' and 'ACIER BEDEL' (repeated both sides), rope binding at the top of the blade and the front edge of grip, natural root bamboo hilt, natural bamboo scabbard, the throat with broad silver locket, the tip with brass and iron ferrule
