probably German circa 1850 with 28in. octagonal barrel, dove-tailed fore-sight, dove-tailed rear-sight with standing notch and folding leaf, engraved breech-end and top-tang (screws replaced), scroll engraved hump-back lock with swinging safe forwards of the hammer, walnut full-stock with herring-bone chequering to the wrist, raised cheek-piece on the left-hand side, scroll engraved nickel butt-plate and trigger-guard, double set triggers, sling swivels and replacement period iron ramrod (some shrinkage splits to wood around lock)
