A BRITISH CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD WITH BLUE & GILT BLADE, UNSIGNED, PATTERN '1796'.
between 1830-37, with curving 28in. clip-point blade, the left hand side decorated for two-thirds its length with four panels of gilt martial trophies and foliage designs on a blue ground (faded), the third panel being the cypher of William IV, the right hand side similarly decorated with the third panel being the Royal Coat of Arms, iron stirrup hilt, turned down langets with 'pie-crust' edges, plain iron backstrap and wire-bound sharkskin grip, TOGETHER WITH its original iron scabbard with two loose suspension rings (some minor dents, painted black)
