AN AMERICAN OFFICERS SABRE WITH BLUE & GILT BLADE, UNSIGNED, serial no 13,
possibly for an Artillery Officer circa 1850, with curving 30 1/2in. fullered blade, both sides with a blued portion for approximately half its length, the left hand side with two gilt designs of foliage, the right with a martial trophy featuring a shield with the American flag and a further panel of foliage (blue and gilt slightly rubbed but generally strong), gilded 'D' shaped knuckle-bow pierced with ordnance grenades entwined within a rope edge border, pierced gilded cross-guard, carved bone grip and gilded eagle-head pommel TOGETHER WITH its original black leather scabbard with twin loose suspension rings and gilded drag, throat and band
