30in. nitro reproved damascus barrels (in 2012), rib engraved 'LANG & SON. 89. WIGMORE ST. LONDON.', 2 3/4in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 3/4 choke, treble-grip action with carved percussion fences, rebounding sidelocks, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, retaining traces of original colour-hardening, 14 1/4in. stock, weight 6lb. 12oz.
Provenance: This Lot is accompanied by a letter from the vendor, an extract of which reads:
"My Great Uncle, James Coram Troake farmed near Potters Bar, Hertfordshire. At the start of the First World War, his neighbour asked my Great Uncle if he would look after and manage his farm while he was away in the army. At the end of the war, when he returned, as a thank-you he gave my Great Uncle the Lang & Son hammer gun complete with case and contents.
