Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were completed in October 1908 with 28in. barrels for R.C. Graves Sawle.
R.C. Graves Sawle was from a noble Cornish family. He was schooled at Harrow before going to Sandhurst. After his commission he entered the Coldstream Guards with the rank of Lieutenant. His regiment left for France as part of the B.E.F. (British Expeditionary Force) in 1914. Sadly he was not to survive the year, being killed on the 2nd November at Ypres.
His name is remembered on the memorial at Harrow School.
