Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed in 1898 for a W. Peart - Robinson. They later sold the gun to a J.A. Hunter in 1914.
William Peart-Robinson was born into a landed Lancastrian family who were also heavily involved in the banking sector. He succeeded his father as a partner of the Craven Bank in 1881 and spent his entire career within the industry. He lived with his wife at Reedley Hall where she bore him eight children. Robinson was appointed a director of the Craven Bank and remained on the board when it amalgamated with the Bank of Liverpool. This subsequently became Martins Bank Ltd.
Robinson died soon after retiring, passing away in March 1938.
