AN UNUSUAL 140-BORE PERCUSSION UNDER-HAMMER PISTOL SIGNED 'BREVET', no visible serial number,
French or Belgian, circa 1855, with two-stage 7in. barrel with inlaid silver bands and balls to the muzzle, silver bans to the intersection and silver band and ball decoration to the breech, the receiver signed in silver 'BREVET D'invention SANS GAR DU GOUVT' within a silver border, exposed trigger-blade and under-hammer, the grip portion cast in white-metal and taking the form of a horse's head, the whole possibly for insertion into a walking cane or riding crop, refinished.
