for circa 1835-39, with 28in. barrels signed on the top-rib 'JOHN MANTON & SON, DOVER STREET' (faint, rubbed), engraved breech-ends with engraved rib-end and engraved platinum plugs, fully engraved top-tang featuring a pheasant, border, scroll and game-scene engraved bar-action locks signed 'JNO MANTON & SON, PATENT', scroll engraved hammers, walnut half-stock (holed at fore-end, chequering removed) with rectangular silver escutcheon at wrist, iron heel-plate, scroll engraved trigger-guard tang and bow, pineapple finial, en-suite ramrod throat and original brass-tipped mahogany ramrod, the whole worn with some loss to detail
