A PAIR OF 20-BORE FLINTLOCK PISTOLS OF SMALLER THAN USUAL SIZE,
circa 1740, with tapering iron 7in. barrels, applied white-metal bead fore-sights with carved half-rib sighting plane, the breech-ends relief carved with arabesques, radial lipped breech-blocks with notch rear-sights, solid flaring, engraved top-tangs, curved and radiused banana locks with raised floral carving to the extremities signed 'OSTERMANN' around the bowl of the pans and 'COPENHAGEN' forwards of the hammers, relief carved hammers featuring dragons heads (the tip of spur missing on one hammer, the other broken at neck), en-suite carving to pans and the unbridled frizzens, walnut full-stocks with carved ramrod-channels and floral carving around the top-tangs (the pistol with broken hammer cracked through at wrist, the other cracked and repaired in antiquity), diminutive butts with long tailed border engraved iron butt-caps, small-sized carved pillar-fronted trigger-guard bows, engraved iron side-plates, horn fore-end tips and original ramrods (frozen)
