circa 1750, with frozen turn-off 5 1/2in. tapering iron cannon-barrel, flared flat-ended breech with attached top-tang, rounded boxlock action, rainproof pan, borderline engraving to hammer and frizzen (sear at fault), walnut butt-stock with swollen grip, brass mounts including grotesque mask butt-cap, rococco vacant escutcheon and pierced sideplate, discolouration to exposed iron surfaces, London proofs
