TWO POST-WW2 ITEMS RELATING TO THE BRITISH PROOF OF GUN BARRELS IN LONDON AND BIRMINGHAM, a) 1948 - The Gun Barrel Proof printer's block showing civilian proof marks then in use at the Proof Houses of Birmingham and London.
b) 1952 - The Red brochure entitled Notes on The Proof of Gun Barrels issued by The Guardians of the Birmingham Proof House and the Gunmakers' Livery Company officially known as The Worshipful Company of Gun Makers of the City of London. Illustrated on p 8 of this booklet are the then legal Nitro Civilian Proof marks shown on the printer's block included in this Lot.
