circa 1795, with slightly swamped re-browned 8in. barrel, ball engraved bands to breech-end and front of top-tang, the remainder of the tang engraved with foliage and shields, flat slightly curved bevel-edged lockplate signed 'NICHOLSON' in an oval surrounded by scrolls, further engraving to the stepped tail, border engraved hammer, semi-rainproof pan, linked frizzen, walnut full-stock with bag-shaped butt featuring flattened side panels, white-metal oval border engraved escutcheon to wrist, pierced white-metal sideplate, roll edged trigger-guard bow, acorn finial and ramrod pipes, original ramrod with worm tip
