early 19th century, with 34 1/4in. twist barrel signed 'MANTON LONDON' at the breech, silver fore-sight, gold-lined touch-hole, border and foliate engraved grooved tang, flat bevelled stepped tail lock signed 'MANTON', semi-rainproof pan, figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip (repaired above lock, cracked by side-nail), engraved iron mounts, silver escutcheon and barrel-bolt escutcheons, horn fore-end cap, and brass-tipped ramrod with worm, Tower private proof mark.
