A .577 PERCUSSION SINGLE-SHOT SERVICE RIFLE, MODEL 'PATT. 1858 SHORT NAVY RIFLE', no visible serial number,
dated for 1866, with blued 33in. sighted barrel, plain colour-hardened lock signed 'BSA Co' together with the date and stamped with a 'VR' crown cypher to the tail, walnut three-quarter stock with 'BSA Co' stamp to right hand side of butt, brass furniture, two iron barrel-bands, bayonet bar mounted to muzzle and iron sling swivels
