A RARE CASED .30-30 (WIN) LEVER-ACTION BOTTEGA C. GIOVANELLI ENGRAVED RIFLE, MODEL '1 OF 1000', serial no. 4799000,
for 1979, with blued octagonal 20in. barrel inlaid with gold bands at the breech and muzzle, the side of the barrel signed in gold 'WINCHESTER MODEL 94 30-30 WIN together with gold-inlaid arabesques and on the top of the breech 'ONE OF ONE THOUSAND' together with scroll engraving extending along the flats, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, elevating carbine ladder rear-sight, deeply chisel scroll engraved receiver surrounding a central panel featuring an engraved gold-inlaid head of a mouflon on the left hand side and a bear within a background of scrolls on the right, highly figured finely chequered walnut straight-hand butt-stock with silvered crescent heel-plate engraved with scrolls, engraved under-lever, highly figured finely chequered walnut carbine fore-end with scroll engraved nose-cap and full-length blued magazine with engraved end-cap, the whole appearing little used COMPLETE WITH its manufacturers presentation full-length leather-covered storage case (one catch broken)
Other Notes: This and the following lot represent two of the most elusive Winchester limited editions available to the collector. Both the guns were engraved by Bottega Giovanelli in 1979 and bear the limited edition number '153 of 250'. It is unknown whether the full production of 250 guns was ever completed
