rib originally engraved 'ALEXR. HENRY. 12 SOUTH ST. ANDREW ST. EDINBURGH. PATENT NO.1', bolstered action with carved serpentine fences, incorporating features of Alex Henry patent No. 1071 of April 17th 1865, double sidelevers operating a central single sprung locking bolt, Henry design dipped non-rebounding lockplates with skeuomorphic hammers of elaborate pinfire form (one repaired) and with internal strikers, fine border and scroll engraving (some wear), 14 3/8in. figured stock with steel heel and toe plates and chequered detailing at the butt

Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed in 1865 with 30in. barrels and is listed as a 'best quality CF [centre-fire] gun'.
