30in. nitro reproved chopperlump barrels, the ribs engraved 'BOSS & CO. 13 DOVER STREET. PICCADILLY. LONDON. W' and gold-inlaid 'A' and 'B' at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke (both), toplevers gold-inlaid 'A' and 'B', automatic safeties with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, rolled-edge triggerguards, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, brushed bright and reblued finish, 14 1/2in. figured stocks with gold escutcheons engraved with coronets, weight 6lb. 9oz. (A) 6lb. 11oz. (B), in their makers brass-cornered oak and leather double guncase
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this pair of shotguns were both ordered by an A.O. Miles; the no.1 gun was completed September 1909 and the no.2 in April 1912.
This lot is accompanied by the engraving instructions from J. Robertson Gunmaker to Mr Sumner, dated April 24th 1913, which read, "Mr Sumner, Please inlay 5786 with a letter A & 6204 with a letter B & oblige. pp John Robertson'
