A .45-60 (WIN) LEVER-ACTION REPEATING RIFLE, MODEL '1876', serial no. 30945,
for 1882, with 28in. nitro reproved octagonal barrel (in 2013), the top-flat signed 'WINCHESTER REPEATING ARMS, NEW HAVEN, CT,' over 'KINGS IMPROVEMENT PATENTED MARCH 29 1866, OCTOBER 16 1860', dove-tailed fore-sight with nickel blade, elevating folding ladder rear-sight, calibre designation at breech, plain blued receiver (good traces of colour), top-tang marked 'MODEL 1876' and drilled to accommodate a peep-sight, walnut straight-hand butt-stock with crescent heel-plate mounted with a central sliding trapdoor, the aperture containing 3 sections of the original cleaning rod (one section missing), plain walnut fore-end with iron nose-cap and full-length magazine tube.
