circa 1850, with octagonal 30in. barrel false rifled at the muzzle, dove-tailed blade fore-sight, dove-tailed notch rear-sight, the top-flat signed 'J. W. PARKHOUSE 54 HIGH ST TAUNTON' (rubbed), squared patent scroll-engraved hooked breech and tang, platinum plug, border and scroll engraved bar-action lock signed 'PARKHOUSE', chequered walnut half-stock with iron heel-plate, trigger-guard with pistol-grip spur to tang, iron ramrod throat and thimbles, brass-tipped iron ramrod possibly from a period service rifle (some pitting to exposed iron surfaces)
