CHURCHILL, ATKIN, GRANT & LANG LTD - HISTORICAL RECORDS FROM 1975-1980 charting the final stages of this conglomerate that encompassed so many great and memorable names in British gunmaking history:
a) 18/3/1975 - Circular from JA Dickinson, the marketing manager for Churchill's new owners, the Harris & Sheldon Group Ltd. This gives interesting historical information regarding the finances of Holland & Holland, Cogswell & Harrison, Boss & Co and James Purdey & Sons during the difficult trading years of 1973 and 1974.
b) 1975 List of Second Hand guns available
c) June 1975 Price list for Churchill, Atkin, Grant & Lang guns
d) 1976 - CAG&L, 7 Bury St., St James' - Blue brochure entitled Accessories for Sportsman.
e) 1976 Churchill, Atkin, Grant & Lang leaflet in black from 61 Pall Mall, for GUN SERVICING with a picture of Ted Spurrier, the Birmingham foreman, on the inside front cover.
f) 1976 - CAG&L, 61 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5JB - Statement of CONDITIONS OF TRADING
g) 1/2/1977 - Direct Mail Price List. At the instigation of Harris & Sheldon, CAG&L became involved in selling shooting accessories by direct mail orders, whether or not stocks were available to fulfill customers' pre-paid requests.
h) 1978 Churchill (Gunmakers) Ltd. An outline of the drastic steps needed to make CAG&L viable according to the new marketing director, J.L Hardy, who was also a director of Hardy Bros, the fishing tackle firm. These measures would affect the "Atkin, Grant & Lang" side of the firm and lowered morale.
i) 1979 The scaled-down, final brown brochure from CAG&L showing that in accordance with J.L Hardy's above recommendations, in their final year of trading Churchill, Atkin, Grant & Lang concentrated on building only Churchill model guns.
j) October 1980 The working document produced by the Harris & Sheldon Group regarding the sale of Churchill, Atkin, Grant & Lang and Churchill (Gunmakers) Ltd as a "Going Concern".
