circa 1800, of flat, slightly curved bevel-edged step-tailed form, border engraved with scrolls and a musical trophy engraved to the tail, the signature in a semi-circle underneath the rainproof lozenge pan, 'Manton styled hammer formed to accept Joseph Mantons patent hammer-block safety (missing). border engraved frizzen signed 'JOSEPH MANTON 8001 (?) PATENT' (rubbed, losses to face lining), strong traces of finish, missing mainspring
