26in. nitro barrels with 6mm ventilated matt top-rib, gold-inlaid at the breech end '20', side ribs, over barrel engraved 'J. PURDEY & SONS AUDLEY HOUSE. SOUTH AUDLEY STREET. LONDON. ENGLAND.', 3in. chambers, bored approx. true cyl. and 1/4 choke, carved fences, hold-open toplever, automatic safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, cocking-indicators, best fine bouquet and scroll engraving, the lockplates gold-inlaid in gothic script with the makers name, the underside gold-inlaid 'J. PURDEY & SONS. LONDON. ENGLAND.', the serial number gold-inlaid on the triggerguard tang, retaining virtually full original colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/8in. well-figured stock, weight 6lb. 2oz., in its lightweight burgundy leather motor case
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed in 1988 with 26in. barrels and its current stock dimensions.
We have been contacted by the original owner's son who has kindly sent us a copy of the original bill of sale and letter from the makers informing him on the gun's completion. This is dated 14th August 1986 and will accompany the Lot.
