Continental circa 1785 with later conversion to percussion, twist 34in. octagonal to round barrels, sunken top-rib with set-back blade fore-sight, 'stags-head' oval makers stamps at breech (traces of gilding), broad top-tang with sighting groove, plain curved and bowed bevel-edged lock plates (traces of colour, faint signature), slab-sided hammers, plain carved rounded pistol-grip half-stock with raised cheek-piece, iron butt-cap, broad pillar-fronted trigger-guard bow, broad vase finial, lozenge ramrod thimbles and horn tipped ramrod (small losses), exposed iron surfaces stained
