A 20-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED FOWLING PIECE, UNSIGNED, no visible serial number, Continental, circa 1780 with later conversion to percussion, 35in. two-stage barrel, applied brass boat-shaped fore-sight to the slightly swamped muzzle, curved and radiused lockplate, crude hammer, swan-necked half stock (fore-end reduced in antiquity), carved around the furniture and ramrod channel, raised cheek-piece with inlet ebony and ivory star, engraved brass heel-plate with spur featuring, scroll engraved spurred trigger-guard, shell engraved side-plate, applied brass ramrod thimbles, replacement iron ramrod, exposed iron surfaces brushed bright with some discolouration
