37in. nitro reproved barrel with hexagonal breech section, top flat engraved 'W. W. GREENER. ST. MARY'S WORKS BIRMINGHAM. WINNER AT THE LONDON GUN TRIALS. 1875.', Jones patent rotary-underlever, large action with carved arcaded percussion fence, non-rebounding back-action lock with ornately carved c-scroll hammer, border and acanthus scroll engraving (some wear), brushed finish, 13 3/4in. highly-figured semi-pistolgrip stock with ornate chequering and including 3/8in. brass buttplate, fore-end with insert repairs and sculpted horn finial, weight 12lb. 6oz., in its brass-cornered re-lined leather case
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed as an 8-bore with a brass heel plate in 1877.
