36in. Greener trade mark steel nitro barrels (pitted and slightly loose on action) with matt rib with central cartouche engraved 'W. W. GREENER. MAKER. 68 HAYMARKET. LONDON. WORKS ST. MARY'S SQUARE. BIRMINGHAM.', the tubes with bands of floral and scroll engraving at the breech ends, 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. 1/4 and full choke, treble-grip action, carved percussion fences, rebounding sidelocks extending back through the hand Selous-style, the extensions chequered inkeeping with the hand, C-scroll hammers, border and fine scroll engraving, 15 1/4in. well-figured semi-pistolgrip stock including horn buttplate, stock inset with white metal plaque inscribed 'MADE EXPRESSLY FOR ANDREW G. LANDREY. KEI ROAD. KING WILLIAMS TOWN. BY . W.W. GREENER.', fore-end Deeley & Edge patent release catch (some pitting) and horn finial, weight 7lb. 10oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this shotgun was completed with 36in. barrels as a grade 'A25' in 1904 ordered by a Mr. Pepper.
