Literature: An detailed explanation of the development of the Greener Police Gun can be found in Graham Greener's book 'The Greener Story - The History of the Greener Gunmakers and their Guns', pp 131-2. Please click HERE to view.

Other Notes: The Mark III Police gun was, alongside the Mark I and Mark II, designed for and supplied to the Egyptian Police force as a riot control weapon. Patented by Harry Greener, the Mark III was specifically designed with the prevention of un-authorised use in mind. The striking mechanism consists of three projections, the shortest in the centre to detonate the cartridge cap and the two either side designed to prevent the central striker from reaching the cap unless special Police issue ammunition is used. The Police issue cartridge features an annular groove in the head which accommodates the extra projections, thus allowing the central striker to connect with the detonating cap.
