A CASED PAIR OF 20-BORE PERCUSSION OFFICER'S PISTOLS, serial no's. WR95663 & WR95664,
circa 1800 and converted from flint by drum and nipple, with octagonal twist 7in. barrels, the top-flats engraved 'LONDON', bead fore-sights, standing notch rear-sights to the hooked breeches, border engraved breech-ends, the South African registration numbers engraved in script to the left hand flats near breech, engraved top-tangs, slightly curved bevel-edged border engraved rounded step-tailed lockplates signed 'CLARK', sliding safes behind the scroll engraved hammers, walnut full-stocks with chequered bag-shaped butts, rectangular silver escutcheons engraved with an 'AAB' monogram, border and scroll engraved iron trigger-guard bows with pineapple finials, captive iron stirrup swivel ramrods (one pistol with loss to wood along leading edge of fore-end) COMPLETE WITH their original oak storage case, re-stained and re-lined in burgundy baize, compartmented in the English manner and retaining a bag-shaped flask, bullet mould and the tip of the original wood rammer, the lid of case with flush-folding rectangular handle and pointed escutcheon engraved 'MR H. BAGSHAWE'
