A BRITISH PATTERN 1912 CAVALRY OFFICERS SWORD, no visible serial number,
circa 1914, with narrow single-edged, single-fullered 35in. blade (tarnished), etched for the first three-fifths of its length with scrolls within arabesque panels, the centre section etched with a kings crown and 'SOUTH AFRICA' over 'ZUID AFRIKA', the back edge of blade etched 'LONDON MADE', inlet proof-mark at the forte, polished iron basket engraved with flowing open floral scroll-work, shagreen bound ribbed semi pistol-grip hilt, complete with its leather field scabbard (losses to drag) (1456)
