A LARGE QUANTITY OF NAZI-PERIOD GERMAN CIGARETTE PHOTOGRAPHIC CARDS, sized 2 3/4 x 3 1/4in. the majority of sets 49, 50, 51 and 52, sized 4 7/8 x 3 3/4in. the majority of sets 14, 28, 30, 32, 64, and 67, and sized 6 3/4 x 4 3/4in. the majority of sets 12, 29, 31, 33, 62, 63, 65, and 66, plus many loose in assorted sizes, each set originally comprising 50 photographic cards and covering subjects such as German historic traditions, the 1936 Olympics, Germany's interwar rise to power and the private and working life of Adolf Hitler, most sets still with their paper wrapper, some foxing and damage by damp on a small number of cards
Other Notes: All designed for album presentation, these 'cards' were a popular item before the war and were primarily produced as part of the Nazi propaganda machine. It usually took around 180 to 250 cards to complete an album, and the cards presented here were sold by Cigarette Bilderdienst, Bahrenfeld, Hamburg (The Cigarette Image Service of Hamburg) to finish collectors incomplete sets.
