A 12-BORE PERCUSSION SINGLE-BARRELLED SPORTING GUN, no visible serial number,
circa 1780, with later conversion to percussion, twist iron round 30in. barrel signed in gold at the breech 'BECKWITH, LONDON', applied silver bead fore-sight, platinum line and plug to the colour-hardened breech-block, scroll and rope-twist border engraved top-tang, borderline and scroll engraved curved, bevel-edged lockplate with stepped tail (inlet repair at front top-edge from conversion process), figured walnut half-stock chequered at the wrist, iron furniture including scrolled-grip trigger-guard tang, white metal oval escutcheon to top of wrist, white metal nose-cap and take-down wedge escutcheons and complete with wood under-barrel ramrod with worm end
