circa 1850, with browned (faded) 30in. damascus barrels, the top-rib signed 'SAMUEL NOCK, REGENT CIRCUS, PICCADILLY, LONDON. GUN MAKER TO HER MAJESTY', silver bead fore-sight, floral engraving to the colour-hardened breech-end (traces of colour), platinum plugs, border and scroll engraved long top-tang also featuring a vignette of a pheasant, scroll and game-bird engraved acutely stepped back-action locks signed 'SAMUEL NOCK INVENIT', slab-sided scroll engraved dolphin-headed hammers with detachable 'Smiths Patent' noses (nipples later replacement), highly-figured straight-hand walnut half-stock, chequered at the wrist, silver shield-shaped escutcheon to top of grip, iron heel-plate with the serial number beneath the lower fixing screw, the long top-spur engraved with the serial number, scrolls and a running hare, scroll engraved trigger-guard tang also engraved with the serial number, flared applied trigger-guard bow engraved with a hunting dog, engraved bombe finial, silver oval take-down wedge escutcheons, engraved iron ramrod throat with beehive terminal, twin ramrod thimbles with rolled ends and original brass mounted mahogany ramrod
