AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE DETACHED PATENT AUTOMATIC PRIMING LOCK MECHANISM,
converted from flintlock circa 1825, of flat, slightly curved form with clipped tail, border and scroll engraved, the centre 'vase-shaped' anvil with platinum vents and a large aperture for a swivel mounted automatic fulminate dispensing device (possibly of 'scent-bottle' form), now missing, florally engraved arm attached to the lock body 'frizzen' style operating a weather cover or safety device and working on a roller-bearing spring, the hammer with adjustable replaceable striker, the hammer and sprung arm separated by a swinging safety-bar signed 'WESTLEY RICHARDS PATENTEE', missing mainspring but retaining traces of finish
