A 12-BORE SIDELEVER HAMMERGUN, serial no. 3743,
29 3/4in. nitro reproved fine damascus barrels, rib engraved 'BOSS & CO. 73 ST. JAMES'S STREET. LONDON.', and '1', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, bore dimensions marginal, left wall at 19, carved percussion fences with feathered motifs, rebounding back-action locks with profusely scroll engraved hammers, one screw a replacement, fine border and acanthus scroll engraving, brushed and blued finish, 14 1/2in. well-figured stock (repairs to underhorns) with engraved steel heel and toe plates, heel plate numbered '1', fore-end with broad grip catch release lever, weight 6lb. 11oz.
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed us that this gun was ordered as No.1 of a pair by 'A. Bennet Esq.' on June 13th 1883.
