circa 1860, with expertly re-browned triple-stage 45 1/2in. barrel banded at the intersection, the top-flat spuriously signed 'JOSEPH MANTON, HANOVER SQUARE, LONDON', borderline engraved colour-hardened back-action lock also incorrectly signed 'JOSEPH MANTON', walnut half-stock with chequered half-pistol grip (pommel renewed in antiquity), iron furniture, white metal take-down wedge escutcheons and fore-end cap, original mahogany brass mounted ramrod, the whole of the metalwork re-finished
