circa 1750 with some earlier and later parts and modifications, the 69in. octagonal to round tapering barrel with applied brass fore-sight and provision for rear-sight (missing), private proofs and makers mark 'J.A.' to left hand flat, later modified hooked breech, borderline engraved, radiused lockplate signed 'PEELE', slightly curved handrail walnut half-stock with flat top to the comb, engraved brass furniture including full step-tailed side-plate, urn finial, detachable fore-end with brass facing plates (probably cut-back from three-quarter or full-length), brass ramrod throat with three iron thimbles applied directly to the barrel and replaced iron ramrod
