circa 1800 and converted from flintlock, probably professionally re-manufactured from a large-bore ball gun during its working life, with heavy octagonal 6 1/4in. barrel signed 'LONDON' on the top-flat, crescent bead fore-sight, border and band engraved solid top-tang, drum and nipple conversion, flat, slightly curved bevel-edged step-tailed lockplate signed 'J & W RICHARDS', scroll engraved hammer, walnut full-stock with chequered bag-shaped butt, iron furniture including pineapple finial and period horn-tipped ramrod with worm end
