Continental circa 1775 with later conversion to percussion, the 35in. browned barrels signed in gilt on the top-rib 'CANON' and 'CORDU', the whole breech-end profusely covered in gilt foliage surrounding gilded urns, the applied silver crescent fore-sight in the centre of a gilded sun-burst, plain top-tang with sighting groove, plain curved and radiused lockplates with carved detail retaining remnants of the pans, the percussion hammers carved with the heads of stylised lions, walnut handrail half-stock with rococco bordered finely chequered panels at the wrist and fore-end, floral carving around the top-tang and ramrod throat, unusual rococco-bordered plain iron hinged heel-plate opening with a side-catch to reveal two charge cavities in the butt, raised trigger-guard tang with attached sling swivel, pillar-fronted trigger-guard bow, urn finial, iron ramrod throat with feathered mount, two barrel ramrod thimbles with banded ends, one with integral sling swivel and probable original iron ramrod
