AN EXCEPTIONALLY RARE AND FINE CASED PAIR OF .442 (C/F) SIX-SHOT REVOLVERS, MODEL 'WEBLEY'S RIC MKI's', serial no's. 7544 & 7560,
circa 1876, with ovate 4 1/2in. barrels, the top-strap with sighting groove signed 'J. VENABLES & SON, 99 ST. ALDATES, OXFORD', engraved band to the muzzles, small crescent fore-sights, border and scroll engraved solid frames marked 'WEBLEYS PATENT', plain front locking cylinders with engraved bands, polished hammers and triggers, chequered walnut one-piece grips with engraved butt-caps and centrally mounted lanyard rings, both pistols retaining the majority of their original blued finish, TOGETHER WITH their retailer's oak double storage case, compartmented and lined in blue baize, parchment trade label to inside of lid, the case also containing a turn-screw and oil-bottle, hook and lock closure and a coin-edged vacant circular escutcheon to outside of lid
