A SCARCE CASED 38-BORE PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT DOUBLE-ACTION ONLY REVOLVER, MODEL '1851 SELF-COCKING', serial no. 7888R,
circa 1853, with octagonal 7 1/2in. barrel, the top-flat and strap signed 'DEANE ADAMS & DEANE, 36 KING WILLIAM ST, LONDON BRIDGE', rounded muzzle, scroll engraving to the breech throat, plain cylinder, solid border and scroll engraved frame with spur-less hammer, finely chequered one-piece walnut grip with swollen pommel, iron butt-cap with engraved central cap-box, and scroll engraved trigger-guard bow, the whole having traces of finish (now faded), TOGETHER WITH its original manufacturers oak storage case, compartmented and lined in green baize, and containing an original brass Adam's patent bullet mould, a cleaning rod, oil bottle, cap tin and a number of cast patent bullets, the lid with yellow 'Deane Adams & Deane' trade label.
