A FINE CASED 54-BORE PERCUSSION FIVE-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S SELF-COCKING 3RD MODEL', serial no. 10267,
circa 1855, with octagonal 6 1/4in. barrel, scroll engraving to breech-throat, the solid border and scroll engraved frame marked with 'P.F.' in an oval, also 'ADAMS PATENT' and 'TRANTERS PATENT', plain cylinder, J-shaped safety spring to left hand side of fame, chequered walnut flared one-piece grip with white metal clipped-corner escutcheon to rear, colour-hardened scroll engraved butt-cap, polished spur-less hammer and double trigger cocking, articulated captive rammer to left hand side of barrel, the whole retaining much blued finish throughout, TOGETHER WITH a period, probably original to the gun mahogany storage case, compartmented and lined in green baize and containing a flask, oil bottle, turn-screw, nipple-key, mahogany cleaning rod and a brass Adams patent bullet mould, the inner lid with retailers clipped-corner trade label for 'COLLINS GUN & PISTOL REPOSITORY, 115 REGENT STREET' proclaiming 'THE GREATEST CHOICE OF DETONATING GUNS BY ALL THE LONDON MAKERS'
