A CASED .450 (C/F) FIVE-SHOT REVOLVER, MODEL 'TRANTER'S PATENT ', serial no. 5211,
circa 1875, with 5in. octagonal barrel, raised sighting-rib signed WATSON BROS 4 PALL MALL LONDON', blade fore-sight, standing notch rear-sight, the breech of barrel stamped 'TRANTER'S PATENT' over the number '5211', the underside of barrel numbered '16', break-open hinged frame with thumb-operated single hooked locking latch, fluted cylinder with spring loaded removal latch to front of frame, finely chequered one-piece walnut grip, iron butt-cap, the whole retaining a fair amount of original finish, TOGETHER WITH its original oak storage case, compartmented and lined in red baize, clipped corner parchment 'T.W. WATSON' trade-label to inside of lid, interior tray for 26 bullets (16 blanks included) and a brass mounted iron cleaning rod (key and escutcheon missing from outer lid)
