A RARE BOXED SET OF ELECTRIC ILLUMINATING APPARATUS FOR BIG-GAME HUNTING, MODEL 'THE RODDALITE'
believed circa 1895 but possibly as late as 1920, comprising of a black-painted lamp-body with telescoping focussing lens, a rectangular battery-box with a transfer printed 'THE RODDALITE' logo together with stamped Great Britain patent details mounted above and shaped clamps for a side-by-side configured rifle or shotgun held by wing-nuts beneath, the front clamp also supporting a long on-off switch operated by the left hand, the whole complete in its black-painted red baize lined tin with compartments for the lamp, the battery and two spare bulbs (bulbs missing), the interior of lid with parchment R.B. Rodda & Co. trade label (original battery and wiring loom included for completeness only and not tested or recommended for use)

Other Notes: This gun-mounted lighting system was specifically produced for the hunting of big cats at night, and would usually have been used from a hide.
