WHITWORTH'S FLUID COMPRESSED STEEL', and '1' and '2', 2 1/2in. chambers, bored approx. imp. cyl. and 1/4 choke, treble-grip actions with carved serpentine fences, hidden crossbolt, removable striker discs, automatic safeties engraved '1' and '2' and with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' details, bold acanthus scroll engraving, the makers name in a scrolled banner, brushed bright and reblued finish overall, 14 3/8in. well-figured stocks including 3/8in. wooden extensions, weight 6lb. 8oz., in their brass-cornered oak and leather case
Provenance: The makers have kindly informed the vendor that this pair of shotguns were completed in August 1899 with 30in. Whitworth steel barrels for a Capt. G.S. Greenwood. A certificate from the maker confirming the original specification will accompany the Lot.
