28in. black powder reproved octagonal barrel, lined to .22 calibre from .295 Rook, matt top flat, missing open sights and fore-sight, the breech end mounted with Parker Hale telescopic sight rails, engraved 'HOLLAND & HOLLAND. 98 NEW BOND ST. LONDON. WINNERS OF ALL THE PRIZES AT THE "FIELD" RIFLE TRIALS. LONDON. 1883', and 'PATENT 1294', H.W. Holland patent lever-cocking action, patent no. 1294 of 17th March 1882, carved teardrop fences, manual side lever safety with gold-inlaid 'SAFE' detail, unusual non-selective ejector mechanism, the action bar cut-away to accommodate flat spring ejector mechanism, border and acanthus scroll engraving, 14 1/2in. boldly-figured pistolgrip stock with steel pistolgrip-cap and buttplate, Hackett snap fore-end with horn finial, weight 6lb.
